What is a diamond engagement ring made from hair?
The process for creating a diamond from a strand of hair is similar to the process for creating diamonds from ashes. There are no diamonds without Carbon. It is a crucial component of actual diamonds and makes up about 40 - 45 percent of human hair. Lab-grown diamonds are all one-of-a-kind and produced from Carbon taken from each client’s hair.
It is possible to produce a magnificent diamond that will last a lifetime using at least 10 grams of hair from you and/or a loved one. These diamonds from hair are certified by GIA and IGI, two reputable third-party organizations. You can make a diamond out of as little as 0.5–2 grams of hair; one lock would be enough in most cases.
It doesn’t matter how old or what color the hair is because the Carbon in the hair is what creates the diamond. It doesn’t matter if the hair is curly or straight, dry or greasy, or colored or natural - it doesn’t even have to be human hair! You can also have your favorite dog or cat immortalized in the diamond.
How long does it take to make a diamond engagement ring from hair?
Unlike other lab-grown diamonds mass-produced, Sunny Eden™️ Diamonds are truly unique and made from your hair. It’s a one-of-a-kind find made especially for you. In addition, turning hair into a diamond needs several laboratory procedures, ranging from element analysis to carbon extraction to HPHT crystallization to post-production cutting and polishing. The usage of specialized equipment is required for this customization method, resulting in a price difference.
The Process of making a Diamond Engagement Ring from hair
First Step: The ingredient is just a sample of hair.
It doesn’t have to be as little as 0.5–2 grams of hair can be used to make a diamond. It also doesn’t have to be from the same person; you can offer a sample of your and your spouse’s hair together or one made up of your children.
Second Step: analysis of the sample.
The chemical makeup of the hair sample is determined, and the amount of Carbon that can be recovered from the hair is calculated.
Third Step: Carbon is extracted from the sample.
Diamonds are made up of carbon atoms organized in a “diamond cubic” tetrahedral shape. As a result, you must extract the Carbon from the hair sample in order to create a diamond.
Fourth Step: Carbon is added to the diamond-growing foundation.
The Carbon that has been removed is used to make a mixture from which a crystalline matrix will form. The eventual diamond’s basis is built on this matrix.
Fifth Step: the mixture goes through high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) production.
The foundation material is placed in the core of an HPHT machine (also known as a BARS apparatus) and exposed to temperatures and pressures similar to those found deep inside the earth’s crust (up to 2000°C and 60,000 atmospheres). The end product is a diamond that looks and feels like a natural diamond.
Last Step: the diamond is cut, polished, and set.
When it’s ready to be placed in the ring, the raw diamond goes through the same cutting and polishing process as typical diamonds.
How much does a diamond engagement ring from the hair cost?
Hair is 44 percent carbon, the same as diamonds. We use Carbon to create GIA-certified diamonds. The expense of transforming your hair into a gleaming diamond begins at $2000.
The most thorough and general price guide can be found in the price list. Our colorless diamonds begin at $2,000 for a 0.5ct brilliant-cut diamond. You can also go with a cushion-cut, a pear cut, or any other cut you choose.
For all lab-grown diamonds from hair, colorless or white diamonds are the most basic color option. They are grown using a basic creation technique that does not include any additional micro-elements or technical treatments. We employ different technologies in separate processes to create Sunny Yellow, Eden Green, Sky Blue, Clearly Colorless and Rose Pink, so the cost and time for manufacturing lab-grown diamonds in various colors are not the same.In the diamond world, fancy-colored diamonds are always a luxury. Only 0.01 percent of all mined diamonds are colored, indicating that 99.9% of all diamonds are white. Because of their scarcity, colored diamonds are extremely precious. This is also true of lab-created diamonds, and the colors will contribute to the cost of manufacture. Simply choose from one of our color options or go colorless.
The cut of a diamond is more important than anything else in determining its beauty. Any compliment can’t compare to the extra brilliance that shines in the same light. We have 10 various cuts, and the beauty and wisdom of craftsmanship have been passed down through the years so that you may discover any traditional diamond design of your choice.
The carat refers to the diamond’s weight. The more difficult it is to create a larger diamond, the higher its value. Diamonds in engagement rings follow the same rules. This has an impact on the pricing. Large diamonds are often exceedingly precious due to their difficulty. As a result, their price does not change linearly with weight but rather exponentially.
Why choose a diamond engagement ring from hair as an engagement option?
While the diamond industry is dedicated to ethically sourced gems, lab-created diamonds guarantee a conflict-free manufacturing process.
Diamond engagement rings from hair are as real as natural diamonds.
In terms of chemistry, nothing. The chemical structure of lab-grown diamonds is identical to that of natural diamonds, and they are just as durable. Because of the controlled nature of the development process, they’re actually purer than natural diamonds. They are “genuine” diamonds, according to science.
The resale value will be far lower than when you purchased it, but you will also miss out on the 50% resale value increase that comes with investing in a natural diamond. When deciding whether or not to purchase a diamond, keep this in mind.
Cost-efficient
Most people are unsure about their budget when buying diamonds, but Sunny Eden™️ will not be one of them. We strongly recommend lab-grown diamonds for engagement rings because they are less expensive than actual diamonds, especially colorful diamonds. A solitaire ring with no pave around the primary diamond is timeless but straightforward. To make the primary diamond appear larger, smaller diamonds with halo could be utilized instead.
The value of a diamond is determined by the five Cs (cut, color, clarity, carat, certificate). Sunny Eden™️ offers lab-grown diamonds in Clearly Colorless, Sunny Yellow, Rose Pink, Sky Blue, and Eden Green. A Clearly Colorless diamond can be had for as little as $ 2000 / 0.5ct.
Other fees such as local taxes and optional services offered by a third party, such as a certification of authenticity issued by the IGI (International Gemological Institute) or the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), are paid individually on a Sunny Eden™️ lab-made diamond ring.
